Terms of service

Last updated: 23 October 2026

Who you're contracting with

StumpBadger lets cricket clubs run private fantasy leagues for their members. These terms are an agreement between you and James Marks, trading as StumpBadger ("we", "us"), of 1 Birch Close, Colden Common, Winchester, contactable at hello@stumpbadger.co.uk (or privacy@stumpbadger.co.uk about your data). By creating an account or joining a league, you agree to them.

Accounts

You must be 13 or over to create an account. A child under 13 can play on a child's account that their parent or guardian adds from, and runs from, their own account; the parent agrees to these terms on the child's behalf and is responsible for that account. You're responsible for keeping your sign-in details secure and for anything that happens under your account. Use a real email address you control, since it's how we send password reset links and important notices.

League admins

Club admins are responsible for the accuracy of the league information they enter (scoring rules, branding, Play-Cricket credentials), for how they manage their members, and for having the right to use any Play-Cricket site they connect. We're not responsible for disputes between a club and its own members.

Each Play-Cricket club has one league. Anyone who shows that club's Play-Cricket API key can become an admin of its league, because only the club holds it. The league's other admins are emailed at once, and for the first 7 days the new admin can't delete the league, refund it, hand it over or remove another admin while another admin is active.

Content you upload

Club admins can upload a logo and a hero image, and members can write winner speeches. You keep ownership of anything you upload. You grant us a non-exclusive, worldwide, royalty-free licence to store, reproduce and display that content, solely so we can operate the service and show it inside your league, nothing more.

You confirm you have the right to upload what you upload. If you believe content on StumpBadger infringes your rights, email hello@stumpbadger.co.uk with enough detail to identify it and we'll review and, where appropriate, remove it. We may remove content that is unlawful, infringing, or clearly inappropriate.

Acceptable use

Don't misuse the service. That includes trying to break or overload it, accessing data that isn't yours, impersonating someone else, scraping, or using it for anything unlawful.

Plans and payment

StumpBadger offers two plans. Free includes every part of the game for up to 22 members, your league's own colours, crest and ground photo included. The Club plan (£30, one payment covering 12 months from the day you pay; renewing early adds the 12 months to the end of the plan you have) lets in every member, with no limit.

On Free, anyone who joins once the league has 22 members goes on its waiting list until a place opens or the club takes the Club plan, when everyone waiting goes straight in. A place on the list lasts 12 months.

Paid plans are a single payment, not a subscription. There is no auto-renewal and no recurring charge. When your club wants to run billing for another season, you pay again at that point. The Club plan covers your league for twelve months from payment.

We are not VAT registered, so no VAT is charged and the prices above are the total you pay.

Payments are processed by Stripe; we never see or store your card details ourselves (see our Privacy Policy).

Your right to cancel, and refunds

If you're buying as a consumer (rather than on behalf of a business), UK law gives you 14 days from purchase to cancel and get a full refund. Because a paid plan takes effect immediately, you're asked at checkout to confirm you want it to start straight away and that you understand you lose the 14-day cancellation right once it has been fully performed. Until then you can still cancel within the 14 days for a refund of what you've paid.

Beyond the statutory right, you can have a full refund until your league's third gameweek locks, or within 14 days of paying, whichever is later. And if your league doesn't run the season you paid for, you can have a full refund as long as no fantasy cricket has been played since you paid. Otherwise payments are non-refundable.

Refund it yourself in your league's Admin, under Plan, and the money goes back to the card that paid. A refund takes your league back to the Free plan, so on its own it's offered while 22 or fewer members are playing; above that, a refund comes with closing the league, and is paid when the league is deleted at the end of its 7 days. Refunding an early renewal leaves the year before it in place. A payment with a chargeback open can't be refunded this way. If you think a refund has been wrongly refused, email hello@stumpbadger.co.uk.

Nothing in these terms affects your statutory rights as a consumer.

Suspension and termination

You can stop using StumpBadger at any time and delete your account or your league from within the app. A deleted league is permanently erased after a 7-day grace period, during which you can undo the deletion. For those 7 days it is read-only: its members can look around but nothing in it can change, and cancelling the deletion puts it back as it was.

We may suspend or terminate an account that breaches these terms. Except where the breach is serious or unlawful, we'll give you notice and a chance to put it right first. If we terminate a paid league other than for a breach by you, we'll refund the unused portion of that season's payment.

Third-party data

Match and player statistics shown in the app may be sourced from Play-Cricket (operated by the England and Wales Cricket Board) where a club has configured that integration. We aren't affiliated with, endorsed by, or sponsored by the ECB or Play-Cricket, and we can't guarantee the accuracy or availability of their data. Scores come only from Play-Cricket: there is no manual scoring. If a club's access stops, its league's points stop updating until access returns; everything scored so far stays, and members can still see the table and their teams.

Play-Cricket API access is granted by the ECB directly to your club, under an agreement between your club and the ECB. When a club admin connects Play-Cricket to StumpBadger they are using their own club's API credentials under that agreement, and they confirm they are authorised to do so. We don't hold a licence on your behalf and can't grant you access: if the ECB withdraws or changes your club's access, the integration stops working for that club.

Availability and warranties

StumpBadger is provided "as is". We try hard to keep it running reliably and to keep scoring accurate, but we don't guarantee it will always be available, uninterrupted, or error-free, and we don't offer a service level agreement. We may change or discontinue features; if we discontinue something material to a paid plan mid-season, we'll refund a fair proportion of that season's payment.

Our liability to you

Nothing in these terms limits or excludes our liability for death or personal injury caused by our negligence, for fraud or fraudulent misrepresentation, or for anything else that cannot lawfully be limited.

Subject to that: we are not liable for loss of profit, loss of business, loss of anticipated savings, or any indirect or consequential loss. Our total liability to you arising out of or in connection with these terms is limited to the greater of the amount you have paid us in the twelve months before the claim arose, or £50.

StumpBadger is a game played among club members. It is not a betting or gambling service, no money is staked on outcomes, and we are not liable for disputes about who won a league.

Changes to these terms

We may update these terms from time to time. If a change is material we'll tell you in the app or by email before it takes effect. Continued use after a change means you accept it; if you don't, you can delete your account, and if you've paid for a plan you're unable to continue using because of the change, we'll refund a fair proportion.

Governing law

These terms are governed by the laws of England and Wales, and the courts of England and Wales have exclusive jurisdiction over any dispute arising from them. If you are a consumer resident elsewhere in the UK, you may also bring proceedings in your local courts.
